MISSION
& OBJECTIVE
There is a town 30 miles North of London called Luton. It used to be famous
for hats, then cars and now an airport. In 1999 however two Lutonians
decided to change that and conceived an international film festival. In
June 2000 Filmstock was born.
Since that first event the festival has seen
many changes. The one constant has been the fact that each year we build
it from scratch. However, the devotion to independent shorts, features
and documentaries remains, along with the idea that the filmmaker should
be welcomed with open arms but treated no differently to the audience
or festival team. Of all our achievements, our finest is that every year,
without prompting, visitors talk with enthusiasm about the 'Filmstock
Family'. To find out what that means, well, you'll just have to come down
and see some films with us.
Filmstock is also an ethically delivered event which sees visitors and
guests compensating for their carbon emissions, whilst enjoying the best
independent, fair trade and organic produce at our festival centre. There
is also the Beers Of The World section, but that's another story.
Each year we pack in a formidable selection of shorts, docs and features,
but we also like to book end the fest with some special opening and closing
films, we like to dabble in a little thing called Filmschlock which is
an evening of how film should not be done, and then if that doesn’t
kill you the bike ride might.

Submit to Filmstock:
FILMSTOCK now open for submission.
We are looking for short films, documentaries and feature films for the
2008 programme.
The Filmstock programme has a very special energy because each year it
consists of films submitted by filmmakers. It is organic and diverse and
every year is different. We show approximately 150 shorts, features and
documentaries in our main independent strand. We have no agenda. We do
not search for films at other festivals, or from film councils or distributors.
We select from what you send. We are not influenced by trends or politics.
We show what we like, and what we think our audience will like, and we
have had no complaints so far.
We are looking for soulful films from filmmakers
with imagination and passion. If that's you, read on.
We will need from you:
• 1 DVD of your film.
• At least 1 Still Image (Electronic)
• Completed Entry Form
• Entry Fee (as stated on Withoutabox or the Paper Form)
• Synopsis
Please read the 10 Commandments section of our submission page online
to ensure you know the rules and regulations of the festival. There is
also useful info about how we run the submission process too. By submitting
this form you indicate you accept the rules and regs.
Entry Fees
• Short Film/Short Documentary (max 25mins) £15.00
