 MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Trivia Question:
How many comedies have won Best Picture Academy Awards in the history of the Oscars?

Answer:
Only four! (Annie Hall, It Happened One Night, You Can't Take It With You, Tom Jones)

 ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
We think it's nuts the way comedies often seem to be treated like the red-headed stepchild of the cinema world. If you can make a movie that’s original and entertaining with a surprising plot and great characters and make it HILARIOUS too, well, that deserves an award!

This is a festival started by funny people, for funny people. All judges are top names in the fields of comedy and filmmaking.

If what you have is short and people laugh at it, around here, that’s a good thing

WHY SHOULD YOU SUBMIT YOUR WORK?

Priceless industry exposure
All category winners will receive an in-person meeting with a production executive at Benderspink (American Pie movies, The Ring, Monster-In-Law) and an in-person meeting with Generate, a talent management (Janeane Garofalo, Ryan Eggold, Patton Oswalt) and production company (David Alan Grier's Chocolate News on Comedy Central, Comedians of Comedy).

Great prizes
In addition to cash, you could win a short film production package worth tens of thousands of dollars, including a professional film crew, equipment, post video and sound editing, and music scoring! Make your next indie short film on us.

Celebrity support
Because the L.A. Comedy Shorts film festival is dedicated to supporting independent film and filmmakers like you, it has been endorsed by some of the biggest names in comedy, including Bill Engvall, Kevin Nealon, and Fax Bahr (co-creator of MADtv). Expect to see additional guest judges and presenters on the red carpet, including SNL alum Laraine Newman, MADtv’s Michael McDonald, Austin Powers’ Mindy Sterling, Boondocks’ creator Aaron McGruder, Reno 911!'s Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cedric Yarbrough and Carlos Alazraqui, along with other celebrities in the fields of comedy and film.

 SUBMIT YOUR WORK NOW!
